Coral Farming Dive
We also believe it is a part of our responsibility to ensure the sustainability of Bali's underwater realm. We have worked with numerous conservation and environmentalist groups, including the World Wild life Fund, The Nature Conservancy, Reefcheck International, local NGOs and the Indonesian Maritime and Fisheries Ministry. In early 2001, we engaged local NGO Bahtera Nusantara to establish a community-development program at Les Village in the north of Bali. Our foreign partners in this project included the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Les Village has now been designated as the first "Community-based Eco-trading and Eco-tourism site" in Bali by the Indonesian government, and has been nominated as a recipient of the Equator Award in 2004 by the UNDP. We are now the only dive outfit on Bali to be authorised to lead trips to Les Village and visit its coral-farming project, as well as the sustainable, non-cyanide fishing project.
