Manta Point: The Main Site

Manta Point sits over a shallow rocky reef (roughly 5–12 metres) where cleaner wrasse pick parasites off passing mantas. Because the mantas slow down and circle the station rather than swimming through quickly, divers and snorkelers often get long, close encounters without needing to chase anything.

Diving vs. Snorkeling It

Certified divers get the steadiest view, holding position near the cleaning station itself. Snorkelers can join too on calmer days, watching from the surface as mantas pass beneath — a genuinely good option for non-divers travelling with a certified group.

Best Time to Go

Mantas are seen at this cleaning station in every month of the year, so there's no strict "season" the way there is for Mola Mola at nearby Crystal Bay (roughly July–October). Morning trips generally have calmer water and better visibility.

Respecting the Mantas

• Stay low and still near the cleaning station rather than swimming toward a manta.
• Never touch a manta — it can strip the protective mucus layer on their skin.
• Keep clear of the cleaning station itself so mantas aren't blocked from the wrasse.
