What Makes the Diving Different

Sites here tend to be sloping reef drifts rather than the dramatic walls found around Penida, which makes navigation and buoyancy more forgiving while you're still adjusting to current. Mangrove Point, tucked into Lembongan's namesake mangrove bay, is a local favourite for exactly this reason — sheltered, shallow, and full of macro life along the root systems.

Mola Mola Season

The same nutrient-rich upwelling that brings oceanic sunfish to Crystal Bay in Nusa Penida reaches Lembongan's channel too, so between roughly July and October there's a genuine chance of a Mola Mola encounter here as well, often with fewer boats around than at Crystal Bay itself.

Planning Your Dive

• Certification: Open Water divers are generally fine at the calmer sites; save the stronger channels for Advanced level.
• Water temperature: expect a noticeable drop in the thermocline, especially during Mola Mola season — a 5mm wetsuit is worth having.
• Combine it: we often pair a Lembongan morning with a Nusa Penida site in the same day trip.
