When a Private Guide Makes Sense
- Underwater photography: a private guide can hold position at a subject as long as you need, without a group waiting.
- Rebuilding confidence: if it's been years since your last dive, one-on-one attention removes the pressure of keeping pace with others.
- Specific site requests: chasing a particular subject or condition (like timing Crystal Bay for Mola Mola) benefits from a guide focused only on your goals.
- Families or couples who'd rather dive as their own unit than join a mixed group.
When a Group Trip Is Just as Good
If you're a confident diver doing a fairly standard site like Tulamben or a Nusa Penida run, our small-group trips already keep a low diver-to-guide ratio, so you're unlikely to feel rushed or crowded. Private guiding mainly adds value when your goals are specific enough to need undivided attention.
What to Expect
Private trips can be built around your schedule, chosen sites, and dive pace, including multiple dives at the same location if you want to keep working a specific subject or skill.
Ask about private guiding
Tell us your goals for the dive and we'll tell you honestly whether a private guide adds value.
