5

Logistics & Park Entry

To dive in Menjangan, you'll need to enter the West Bali National Park. Most trips depart by boat from Labuhan Lalang or Pemuteran. Ensure you have your certification card ready and remember that National Park permits are mandatory. We recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance, especially during the high season, as boat slots are regulated to prevent overcrowding.

Underwater Conditions

Menjangan is world-renowned for its visibility, often exceeding 30 meters. Water temperatures remain a comfortable 27-29°C year-round. The currents are typically mild, making the walls an easy drift-dive experience. You'll glide past massive sea fans, sponges, and a kaleidoscope of reef fish, while keeping an eye on the blue for patrolling Blacktip reef sharks or the elusive Mola-Mola during cooler months.

Safety on the Wall

While the conditions are usually gentle, wall diving requires good buoyancy control to avoid accidental deep descents. Always stay within your depth limits and monitor your NDL (No Decompression Limit) closely, as the clarity can be deceptive regarding how deep you actually are. Use a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) at the end of every dive to ensure boat captains can spot you easily in the open water.

Recommended Equipment

A 3mm wetsuit is perfect for the warm North Bali waters. If you're a photographer, bring a wide-angle lens to capture the scale of the walls and the massive gorgonian fans. For those bringing their own gear, a computer with a clear display for depth tracking is vital. If you’re renting, we provide high-quality, well-maintained BCDs and regulators to ensure your comfort and safety.

Legendary Sites of Menjangan

Every site around the island has a distinct personality. From the "Pos II" wall which is perfect for dramatic sunbeam photography, to "Eel Garden" where you can see hundreds of garden eels swaying in the sandy shallows before the reef drops away.

For history buffs, the "Anker Wreck" (Kapal Budak) is a must. It's a wooden shipwreck sitting at the foot of a spectacular wall, with the deepest parts reaching 40m. Because many sites are close to each other, our guides can help you choose the best route based on the day's current and your personal interests.
